What is Our Mission?
The Riversaver project
Plastic pollution affects all surface waters worldwide. Data suggests that min. 80% of all marine litter enters the seas via rivers, but according to scientific publications as of May Yet, by July 2022 - as a result of carefully accomplished river cleanup operations - more than 400 tons of river litter was removed from the Tisza water catchment area alone.
The Challenge...
Over the past ten years, the volunteers of the Plastic Cup, the Plastic Pirates, have removed more than 400 tons of waste from the floodplains of the Tisza River and its tributaries, over 60% of which has been recycled.
Our solutions for your Cause!
Monitoring technologies
Advanced tools and systems for real-time detection, tracking, and assessment of plastic pollution in rivers, aiding research and intervention planning.
Cleanup solutions
Innovative methods and tools for efficient removal of plastic waste from rivers and floodplains, minimizing environmental impact.
Tools for awareness raising
The Plastic Cup Society has consistently centered its awareness-raising activities around the unifying theme of Riversaver which goes beyond just cleaning the river. In essence, a Riversaver is an individual who possesses a fundamental understanding of the reciprocal relationship between human actions and rivers, and how rivers, in turn, shape our way of life.
